Blood pressure is the result of your blood being pushed through your arteries by your heart beats. The systolic number, the one that’s placed on top of the monitor or on the far left in the case of smaller displays, shows the pressure of your blood when it’s being pumped out by your heart. The diastolic number is displayed under the systolic one, or on the far right, shows the pressure of your blood when the heart is getting filled with it, obviously.
A blood pressure of less than 120/80 is considered a healthy one. It is recommended that you get your blood pressure tested regularly because, in the case of hypertension, there are no symptoms – but the outcome is represented by severe health conditions. Too high blood pressure can eventually damage the blood vessels that can be found in your eyes. This can, in turn, lead to blurred vision, as well as vision loss, and to bleeding in the eyes.
On the other hand, hypertension can weaken the blood vessels that can be found in our kidneys. This has a harmful effect on them, as it weakens their ability to remove the waste that’s constantly gathering up in our bodies. Furthermore, as fluids begin to gather in our kidneys without them being properly removed, our blood pressure will increase once again – in short, this high blood pressure leads to higher blood pressure.
Blood pressure is fully under your control
If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure, your physician will recommend you to take some blood pressure medication, in order to get it back to healthy levels.
However, if you maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly, blood pressure can decrease so much – down to a point where you won’t need to take medication anymore. You should start by reducing the amount of salt that’s currently in your diet and look for diet plans that help lower it if you want your blood pressure to have healthy levels.
